STORIES OF VISION VIRGINIA

Crossover Roanoke

CROSSOVER ROANOKE

Alberto planned for a short walk through the park, but he encountered more than a beautiful day he listened to the Gospel message and gave his life to Jesus Christ. This was one of 31 decisions that day made possible in part to hundreds of volunteers at Crossover Roanoke….

Hispanic Conference

HISPANIC CONFERENCE

“There is a great need for Hispanics to know God,” said Carlos Payan, pastor of Iglesia Las Americas in Lynchburg. “We need to plant more churches, we need to train leaders, and we need to reach the world with the Gospel of Jesus. It is important to come to these conferences because we get trained, encouraged, and taught ways the Hispanics can be a blessing to other nations.”…

Barcelona Mission Center

BARCELONA MISSION CENTER

At first, Josh* and his mother were a little reluctant to attend a weekly children’s program at the community center in their Barcelona neighborhood. IMB workers Keith* and Allison* encouraged Josh to learn English and truths about God and His goodness. Now, Josh’s mother has spread the word about the center and four of Josh’s cousins have joined the class….

WEEK OF PRAYER

One week each year, from Sunday to Sunday, Virginia Southern Baptists join together in praying for missions. The official Vision Virginia Week of Prayer for 2017 is September 17 – 24th, but our prayer guides are un-dated so that your church may join together in prayer whenever it fits you best. The week of prayer emphases are listed below by day. Please join with us in lifting these ministries up before the Father.

DAY 1

DISASTER RELIEF

Southern Baptist Disaster Relief is the third largest responding agency in North America! Praise God for all of the Virginia volunteers trained and ready to respond. Pray that God will raise up many others to be equipped for the next disaster.

DAY 2

WORSHIP EQUIPMENT FOR CHURCH PLANTS

Among the many expenses of launching a new church is the cost of buying equipment needed to begin corporate worship. Pray that worship leaders at church plants will have access to all that is necessary for their ministry.

DAY 3

THE DC MISSION CENTER

Worship space, small group meeting areas, and church planting office space are very limited and costly in our nation’s capital. Pray that the Lord would provide for the ministries that operate from the DC Mission Center and reach many through this resource.

DAY 4

ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE

Pray that the Lord would bless and provide for the leadership of these ministries, equip and empower believers both for these ministries and through these ministries, and care for people in need and reach many with the Gospel through ESL ministries.

DAY 5

STATEWIDE EVANGELISM

Pray that the Lord would challenge and equip believers everywhere to reach their neighbors and the world for Christ, give churches and church leaders a clear vision for how to reach those around them, and encourage and renew those who are faithful to share the Gospel day in and day out.

DAY 6

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

Students, collegians, seminarians, and church staff have many opportunities throughout the year to develop further as relevant leaders. Pray that church leaders will learn from these opportunities and grow into Christlike shepherds.

DAY 7

PROPERTY FOR CHURCH PLANTS

Most new churches start in portable venues such as school gymnasiums, movie theaters, or warehouses. Once established, some will need a more permanent meeting space. Pray that church plants will be able to locate property that will meet the needs of their growing ministries.

DAY 8

VIRGINIA GLOBAL RESPONSE

SBC of Virginia churches are working together to reach Virginia and beyond with the Gospel. We are using God-given opportunities to meet human needs, allowing us to share the Gospel. Pray for God to move churches to reach the lost in places like Greece, Barcelona, and Nepal… and beyond!
