Currently, we (Southern Baptist Disaster Relief) do not have anyone on the ground in Haiti.
The SBCV Disaster Relief ministry, with more than 3000 trained volunteers from partner churches, stands ready and willing to serve the earthquake victims in Haiti.
A team lead by Carl and Bonnie Perry from Enon Baptist Church have responded to Matewan, WV in May of 2009.
It is the goal of SBCV Disaster Relief to assist churches in preparing for disaster by developing a strategy to minister to their communities during crisis through readying their facilities, training their members, securing supplies, and developing protocols that will activate their disaster response plans. Our ultimate goal is to be able to share the love of Christ through sharing the Gospel.
We have all been following the news reports of the spread of swine flu.
Five SBCV Disaster Relief workers arrived in American Samoa the end of March and will be doing repair/rebuild work in response to a Tsunami in the area the fall 2009.
There seems to be no area of mission action that requires more rapid response than a time of disaster.
As you can see our teams have been busy (at least one team out every month). Please be in prayer for our Disaster Relief Volunteers as they minister in His name.
