About the Speakers

Dr. Fred Luter serves as Senior Pastor of Franklin Avenue Baptist Church in New Orleans and is President of the Southern Baptist Convention. Dr. Luter had begun his ministry in 1977 in New Orleans' Lower Ninth Ward after he suffered a motorcycle accident. As he preached on the streets, Luter recognized the need to involve men in the church. His first sermon in a church building was in 1983 at New Orleans' Law Street Baptist Church. He was a staff minister at the city's Greater Liberty Baptist Church before serving at Franklin Avenue Baptist Church.

Dr. Alvin Reid is Professor of Evangelism and Student Ministry at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (SEBTS). Dr. Reid received his MDiv and PhD in Evangelism at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He has served as State Evangelism Director and Home Missionary for the Southern Baptist work in Indiana. After spending three years teaching at Houston Baptist Theological Seminary, he and his family moved to Wake Forest, NC, where he now teaches at SEBTS.
