Strong churches with a bold commitment to the Great Commission

Baptist Builders at the River

October 5, 2009

"Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass."
1 Thessalonians 5:24

Staunton River Community Church in Brookneal first met Easter Sunday 2006 on the banks of the Staunton River and continued meeting there for six months until the weather turned cold. Since that time, they have worshiped each Sunday at the Brookneal Community Center. They have also purchased and begun renovating an old tobacco warehouse (originally built in 1895) to become their church home.

Baptist Builders went to help Staunton River build the church Labor Day weekend.  Sixty-five volunteers from fifteen churches gathered to work on Friday, Saturday, and Monday.  It was amazing to watch so many electricians, carpenters, and drywall hangers and finishers at work!  Teams moved from one room to the other with amazing timing and skill to get the job done.  God provided the right person for every job to be completed!

Sunday, the team went prayer-walking and invited folks to the Sunday afternoon worship service and cookout at the river.  It was an awesome time of fellowship, singing, and praising God for His faithfulness!

Staunton River Community Church will continue to say "Join us at the River!"  They are on mission to tell others about Jesus!
