Baptist Builders pour out the love of Jesus to flooded community
In August, 2012 a devastating flood destroyed or damaged approximately 200 homes along Dry Creek in Washington County, Tennessee. Virginia Baptist Builders partnered with Tennessee Baptist Builders and the Appalachian Service Project to build 8 homes before the Christmas holidays. The first week of building a team of 43 construction students from Iowa State University framed several homes; the next 3 weeks a total of 42 Baptist Builders representing 16 churches from 5 states came and completed the homes!
Cherry Grove Baptist Church (in Jonesborough, TN) members helped rescue families the day of the flood. Also, they completely furnished the new homes with furniture, appliances, kitchen supplies, linens, etc. Several in the community accepted Jesus and are now attending church at Cherry Grove Baptist Church!
No one died in this flood and many have new homes, new friends and new Life in Christ and so the community calls this event “The Miracle on Dry Creek”!
