SBC of Virginia Disaster Relief is responding to many needs as a result of Hurricane Irene.

SBCV DR update (8/27/11  9:00pm)

More than 100 DR volunteers are being activated to respond in the next couple of days.

Currently, SBCV has the following DR units activated:

  • Feeding Unit #1 & #2
  • 45 kw generator
  • Command Post

Recovery Units:

  • Kempsville Baptist
  • Enon Baptist
  • First Norfolk Baptist
  • Liberty Baptist Hampton
  • Smith Memorial Baptist
  • Tucker Swamp Baptist
  • Swift Creek Midlothian
  • Boones Mill Baptist
  • South Fork Baptist
  • Rosedale Baptist

The below churches are being used as feeding sites, recovery team housing sites, distribution sites or stop over sites for teams traveling from other states to the Northeast:

  • Great Neck BC, VA Beach

Recovery Only:

  • Bethel BC, Yorktown
  • Nansemond River BC, Suffolk

Staging and Recovery:

  • Smith Memorial BC, Williamsburg

Staging Only:

  • Staples Mill BC, Glen Allen
  • Swift Creek BC, Midlothian

I – 81 Overnight Stays:

  • Rosedale BC, Abingdon
  • CommUNITY, Salem
