Strong churches with a bold commitment to the Great Commission

Jonny Maltempi’s Homegoing

I know that many of you have been praying for the Maltempi family for some time.

Jonny Maltempi went to be with the Lord Friday, February 1st after battling cancer for multiple years. Jonny is the son of SBC of Virginia Student Ministry Strategist Steve Maltempi and his wife Joy. Jonny's faith has been a testimony to God's grace. The Lord's grace and strength are very evident in the Maltempi family.

Jonny was born August 12, 1997 and lived in Chester, Virginia. He was seven-years-old when he accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior. Jonny attended Thomas Dale High School where he participated in school plays. He loved spending time with his family and friends, read books like one of his favorites, Heaven is for Real, played video games and volunteered with the youth at Ironbridge Baptist Church. Jonny checked off some of his bucket list by flying in a plane and traveling to places like New York City to see the Statue of Liberty and Nintendo World. He even got the chance to go as far away as Italy.

When Jonny was 10-years-old, he was diagnosed with a brain tumor. For six years, Jonny fought for his life. He had six brain surgeries, one kidney surgery, two chemotherapy treatments and radiation. At 16-years-old, Jonny went home to be with Jesus where he knows no more pain and no more tears.

We ask that you pray for comfort to support Steve and Joy, Jonny's siblings - Abigail, Rebekah, and Joe - close family and friends.

Jonny asked his family to provide the following way that you can help to honor his life:

Ironbridge Baptist Church has set up two funds. One to help students go on mission trips and the other to help with six years of medical bills.
