The SBC of Virginia is partnering with the Oklahoma Baptist Convention to provide relief to tornado-impacted families. We encourage donors to make a contribution that will be used to support feeding centers, supply distribution, and clean-up efforts that are actively serving throughout the Moore community. DR teams on the ground shared with us that today there are 131 people seeking shelter. More than 100 Southern Baptist volunteers have served a total of 2,400 meals, provided 30 loads of laundry, and distributed 40 Bibles to share the message of hope that Jesus loves them.

We will be sending our DR teams as soon as the State of Oklahoma deems it safe. The delay is due to the mangled infrastructure in the area. Once we have access, our teams will activate and provide assistance with their qualified training.

In Illinois, we have a DR flood-recovery team that is providing assistance to the 200 homes that were flooded due to a storm last week.

Please continue to pray for these dear families as they recover from this devastation and the volunteers who are working long hours for our brothers and sisters in Christ.

***On Thursday, May 23, we will share a quick video message from the SBC of Virginia as we plan ahead for our friends in need.***

Following deadly tornadoes in Oklahoma, Southern Baptist Disaster Relief volunteers responded. Oklahoma Baptist DR has set up at the First Baptist Church of Moore. This is the church that CNN is broadcasting. They are moving a Feeding Unit and Chaplain Teams into the area this morning.

In addition to the response in Moore, Southern Baptist Disaster Teams are serving in:

  • Marseilles and Peoria, Illinois.  SBC of Virginia currently has a team in Marseilles.
  • Russiaville, Indiana
  • Saginaw, Michigan
  • Ganbury/Cleburne, Texas
  • West Texas
  • Teams still responding in New York and New Jersey from Super Storm Sandy.

The need is great across the middle of the nation.

Please continue to pray for all that have been effected by these disasters.  Also pray for the volunteers responding to these areas, bringing hope to the hurting.

Also, please continue making a financial donation to help defray costs of response and rebuilding. Donate Now
