Team takes Hope to Haiti

On January 12, 2010 an earthquake lasting 90 seconds swept 300,000 Haitians into eternity.  Almost four years later, and many are still rebuilding … with the help of folks like Aubrey Ralph and others joining him in Rebuild Haiti efforts.  The most recent visit to this area was November 2013.

Aubrey commented, “I feel so blessed and privileged to take another team to Haiti to encourage and strengthen the arms of those who are serving the children and adults that are still struggling to recover from the devastating earth quake which took some 300,000 lives and left hundreds of thousands without some of the basic necessities of life.”

Joining Aubrey in November were Steve, Scott and Phil.  The tasks ahead included building table benches, serving meals, teaching Bible lessons and sharing the Hope of Christ.  The work site was in Canaan, Port-Au-Prince.

Aubrey recounted, “What an awesome joy it was to visit with 120 children at the school and to have the privilege of sharing with them a Bible story. They listened intently and participated in the lesson. It was fun! I wish you were here to see the unspeakable joy on the children faces when we served their first hot meal at school. Even the smallest ones among them ate all that was served. One after another they said to us: ‘Mèsi pou manje midi, Bondye beni ou papa’ or Thanks for lunch, God bless you Papa.”

The team reported the following with a deep sense of gratitude and amazement on all that was accomplished by God’s grace:

1.       More than 720 meals were served.
2.       60 table benches were built.
3.       VBS Children Bible lessons and Adult Discipleship sessions were taught.
4.       Preached in two Sunday services and at one youth meeting.
5.       Countless warm interactions with the school children.
6.       Connection to the people at the Philadelphia Church in a much deeper and significant way developing relationships that will last a lifetime.

Aubrey concluded, “In many ways this has been one of the most rewarding trips as we were able to integrate both construction and direct ministry at the same location. We were also able to impact 120 children and 30 adults with the Gospel during a 5-day visit.

The next trip for Rebuild Haiti is now planned for March 21-29, 2014.
