“Life is not fair”, you’ve heard it said. Perhaps you’ve said it yourself. There are too many ups and downs. Yesterday you were up. Your job looked secure. Your relationships with others were seemingly smooth. You felt good about yourself. You were in control. Now you’re down. Maybe it is your job, or your friends, or your family or it’s your marriage. Everything seems to be down. You feel alone and defeated. What’s the deal anyway?
There is a solution! There is a way to live through life’s ups and downs. Yes, there is good news. GOD LOVES YOU! Many can tell you how God has lifted them up. The Bible says: “He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings” (Psalm 40:2). Yes, God can lift you and establish your goings.
The fact that we are bent by a sinful nature explains why we live with ups and downs. No person is exempt from the problem of sin. God declares, “for all have sinned…” (Romans 3:23). Sin is rebellion against God. Sin is a self-centered life that violates God’s law in thought, word, and deed. The result of sin is death and separation from God. “Your sins have separated you from God” (Isaiah 59:2). “For the wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23).
Listen, here’s the good news. You do not have to remain bound by sin and its evil sway. “Look up and lift up your head for your redemption draws close”(Luke 21:28). “While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). “He (Jesus) was delivered for offenses and raised for our justification” (Romans 4:25). “For Christ also once suffered for sin…that He might bring us to God” (1 Peter 3:18).
Yes, Jesus Christ can take care of your ups and downs. The Bible says: “Humble yourselves before the Lord and He will lift you up” (James 4:10).
How can Jesus Christ do this for you?
First, admit your sinfulness to Him. “I said I will confess my sins” (Psalm 32:5). Second, repent and receive Christ as your personal Savior. “Repent and turn to God” (Acts 26:20). “As many as receive Him, to them gave He the right to become sons of God” (John 1:12). Third, in faith, obey and follow Jesus each day. “Follow Me” (Matthew 16:24).
Jesus Christ will take care of your life’s ups and downs. He said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life and no one comes to the Father but by Me” (John 14:6).
Will you let Him? Right now as you read this, put your trust in Jesus Christ. Ask Him this: Dear Lord, I need You. My sin is too much for me and it’s leading me to hell. Right now, I’m turning to follow You. Please forgive me of my sins. I believe You suffered, died, and rose again to pay for my sins. I receive You into my life as my Savior and Lord. I believe You will lead me every day and I will follow You according to Your word. Thank you, Jesus, for loving me. Amen.Claim this promise: “Verily, verily I say unto you, He that believes on me has everlasting life” (John 6:47).
We want to help you as you follow Christ. Visit this Sunday a SBCV church and share with the pastor or staff member your desire to follow Christ. Contact our SBCV office at Help@SBCV.org.
