Hands-On Missions Opportunities for Church Plants

The SBCV is reaching the lost in Virginia through many of its dozens of church plants throughout the state.  There are several ways that you and others can get involved and help these church planters in the task of fulfilling the Great Commission. We asked all of our church plants how dedicated servants like you can join the effort and help them through a church mission trip and the opportunities they gave us are posted below.

  MISSION PREPARATION:

How to choose and prepare for a Mission Project:
• Be prepared to adjust your ministry activity to meet the needs of the church in the field.  Be sure to ask the church planter what tools and expertise are needed to be effective in their setting.
• Know what ministry capabilities your group has and how that matches the needs in the field.
• Be prepared to arrange your own logistics.  Church planters can provide suggestions for lodging, meals, and other area information.
• Be prepared spiritually through prayer.  Ask the church planter for specific prayer needs in their harvest field.
• Be prepared to learn about other cultures and how to best minister in that environment.
• Be prepared to interact with people in sharing the gospel.
• Be prepared to work in diverse ministry settings and with various population segments.
