Appalachian Regional Ministry
Health Packs

SBCV pastor & biker

Please Ship Health Packs by September 30th
Sign Up to participate in this exciting event!

During a recent visit to a rural western Virginia community, Bill Barker, director of Appalachian Regional Ministry (ARM), delivered a shipment of adult health packs to a local church that had requested them for distribution.  As one lady picked up a health pack and saw a paperback Bible, she pulled it out unashamedly and cried out, “Thank you God, a Bible.”  As Southern Baptists respond to the physical needs in Appalachia, God is opening hearts to receive the good news of the Good News of Jesus Christ.

It may be difficult think of not having the basic necessities of life – a toothbrush, soap, shampoo, etc. Or to not being able to reach over and pick up a Bible. This, however, is reality for many who live in the Appalachian region. SBCV churches now have the opportunity to change that. Through a partnership with ARM, the SBCV is sponsoring a new mission opportunity of preparing Health Packs that will be distributed to individuals throughout the Appalachian region to help meet some of their basic needs.  You can get involved by preparing an ARM Health Pack that includes the following:

• Bar of soap
• Shampoo
• Deodorant
• Lotion
• Toothpaste
• Toothbrush
• Comb or hair brush
• Wash cloth
• Socks (new)
• Underclothes (new)
• New Testament in a modern translation

Please place items in a gallon-size zip-lock bag (PLEASE DO NOT USE TRAVEL OR SAMPLE SIZE ITEMS).  Packs can be for children, youth, or adults.  Please put gender and sizes on the outside of each bag and send by September 30th to:
