Introduction to Liberty Link:
Have you had them in your church?  Maybe for a Disciple Now weekend or to lead in Praise and Worship, or maybe to offer a student concert or assist you with door-to-door canvassing, or maybe they have preached in the absence of your pastor or helped you put on an evangelistic Block Party.  Liberty Link links the needs of SBCV churches to Liberty University.  You name the ministry and these students who have applied, interviewed, trained and who are committed to the SBCV, are eager and willing to serve in your church for a one day or weekend event. 

What is Liberty Link?
Liberty Link is the SBCV partnering with Liberty University, in an effort to mobilize students to do ministry in SBCV churches around the state.  This partnership helps mentor and disciple students who have a heart for God and ministry, but also provides an incredible resource for the church.  The SBCV has developed a team of students that are available for churches to request.  Liberty Link is organized and operated by the SBC of Virginia and is supported by the Cooperative Program.

When is Liberty Link in Operation?
Liberty Link is in operation during the spring and fall, and only when school is in session.

Months to consider this ministry would be:
February-March-April
September-October-November
*Exceptions would be events planned far in advance, or pulpit supply requests.
*When Liberty Link is not in session, the SBCV will assist churches in meeting those requests through other referrals.

Liberty Link Ministry Team Options:
Disciple NOW Weekend Team (Team of 4-12)
The concentrated focus is on growing youth toward Christian maturity during an entire weekend experience.  There will be joint times of fun icebreakers, devotion and worship, but at night the students will be divided and hosted in the homes of church members for maximized Discipleship.

Worship Band Team (Team of 4-8)
The focus is on leading youth into an authentic worship experience.  The contemporary style is suitable for concerts, youth rallies or Sunday morning worship.

Block Party Trailer Team (Suggested Team of 2-6)
The focus is to assist the local church in providing a premier Evangelistic Block Party.  In partnership with the North American Mission Board and Liberty Theological Seminary, the SBCV helps provide 2 fully equipped Block Party Trailers.  The Liberty Link ministry can help you provide assistance with all the equipment and set ups of blow-up games, table games, popcorn, snow cones, grill for hotdogs and all the fixing’s needed to invite your neighborhood to hear the Gospel of Jesus in a fun and non threatening way.
*Additional charge applies - see costs below
*Churches will need to be prepared to provide the pick up and return of the trailer to Liberty University or other trailer storage areas
*If Liberty Link students are not availble to provide a team for your block party, the trailer may still be available for use.  Your on line request will then be forwarded to Liberty University.  Liberty University Block Party coordinator will contact you to inform you of the availability.

SUMMER BLOCK PARTY TRAILER REQUESTS
The SBCV in partnership with Liberty University will provide assistants for Block Party Trailers for the summer.  The cost for the use of the trailer (contents described above) is $250 per event.  Make your summer requests to lublockparty@aol.com.  The summer coordinator will then send you the guidelines and application.  If your dates are confirmed, you will have the advantage of an assistant to aid you in the set-up, take-down, they will train your volunteers how to utilize the block party trailer to the fullest potential and also train them in simple evangelism strategies.  In addition to the preservation of these great evangelism tools, these summer assistants will be a real blessing to your Block Party event.

Preaching Team (Team of 1)
The focus is to assist the local church in pulpit supply in the absence of their pastor.  You could however use the preaching team for such things as Youth Sunday or for a Youth Rally.

Outreach Team (Team of 4-8)
The focus is to assist the local church in outreach to their community by penetrating into the neighborhoods.  This team can be used in door to door canvassing or to conduct community surveys.  This team could also benefit church plants in getting started.

Variety Team (Team of 1-6)
You could utilize a combination of the above teams to meet your needs. Sometimes the team is comprised of students who are talented in drama or comedy that could be used on special occasions.

Mission Team (Team of 4-8)
The focus is on assisting the local church in doing simple mission projects, such as kindness explosion, minor home repairs, etc…

Liberty Link Costs:
Liberty Link is a free program funded by the Cooperative Program of the SBC of Virginia.  We do ask that mileage/expenses be paid by the requesting church so that volunteer students are not expected to spend money out of their own pocket in order to serve.  Churches may offer an honorarium for students if desired.
Supplemental Expenses: 
*Due to the upkeep, wear and tare of equipment through rehearsals and engagements, to request a Worship Band Team requires an additional $200 charge.
*Due to the upkeep, wear and tare of equipment, and to restock the trailer, to request a Block Party Trailer Team requires an additional $200 charge.

What makes Liberty Link unique is that you choose your level of involvement with no pre-determined commitment. As requests come in from SBCV churches, we simply notify Liberty Link team members of the need and you respond by saying if you can participate in the trip or not. It's that simple! Team Leaders coordinate the trips, so student team members may enjoy the opportunity of ministry.  Many pastors, staff, and lay people in our SBCV churches have students at Liberty University, so contact us if you have potential students to serve with us.
