For SBCV Church Planters and Apprentices:
March 31 – April 1 is our first of two statewide Church Planter Networks (CPNs) this year. From each SBCV church plant, we are inviting the lead planter (and his spouse), along with one apprentice or team member (and spouse), to come to the Stonewall Jackson Hotel in Staunton, VA for an overnight stay on us. There is a nominal, non-refundable $25 fee per couple.
Friday lunch, Friday dinner, Saturday breakfast, as well as all sessions, will take place at the hotel. We will have a nice dinner on Friday evening, but dessert will be omitted. This is to give you the opportunity for a dessert date with your wife; you may even want to join a few other couples for some fun and fellowship.
Speakers & Theme
The spring CPN Weekender has been designed as a time to connect with other planters from around Virginia and Metro DC and to be inspired and challenged through biblical exposition delivered by eight seasoned SBCV church planters in a Ted Talk format. The theme for the weekend is Stronger Together—Not Alone.
Jamie Limato, SBCV associate church planting strategist and pastor of Aletheia Norfolk, will be teaching and facilitating peer coaching for half of our time together. Our desire is that you walk away with more and deeper relationships with other SBCV church planters.
The remainder of the plenary sessions will be formatted similar to Ted Talks. Four seasoned SBCV planters have been selected to preach on Friday afternoon, and another four have been selected for Saturday morning. Each will preach/talk not more than 15 minutes, exegeting and making application from a particular passage related to the Paul and Timothy relationship. This is designed to both inspire and challenge you to think about the coaching relationships in your life and in your church. There will be a time of large group and table dialogue after each set of four messages. Those speaking are:
1 Corinthians 4:17 – Peter Hess (Christ Fellowship Church of Williamsburg)
1 Tim. 1:2 – Brad Mullinax (River Church – Madison Heights)
1 Tim. 1:18-20 – Steve Gentry (Village Church at Midlothian)
1 Tim. 4:12-16 – Brad Russell (Old Powhatan Baptist Church – Powhatan)
2 Tim. 1:3-5 – Brandon Hembree (Impact Church – Centreville)
2 Tim. 1:6-7 – John Sharp (Fellowship Community Church SW – Roanoke)
2 Tim. 2:1-2 – Steven Lee (Redeemer City Church – Washington, DC)
2 Tim. 3:10-15 –Tony Shepherd (Hampton Roads Fellowship – Newport News)
The Virginia Deaf Church Planters Network will also be meeting onsite during the CPN Weekender and following a similar theme. The speaker for the Deaf Network will be Rodney Webb from Atlanta, GA. Rodney is a child of deaf adults (CODA) and grew up with American Sign Language as his heart language. He has extensive experience in starting and leading dozens of Deaf church plants and Deaf ministries over several decades of ministry.
