Mobilizing Churches

Becoming A Missions Volunteer

(1) Accept the Acts 1:8 Challenge

The SBCV encourages churches to accept the Southern Baptist Convention’s Acts 1:8 challenge to commit to a comprehensive missions strategy in your community (Jerusalem), Virginia or region (Judea), continent of North America (Samaria) and the world (the ends of the earth). For more information about the Acts 1:8 Challenge go to our Acts 1:8 Challenge page, or visit www.actsone8.com.

(2) Personalize Your Church Mission Partnership and Trips

In addition to the many SBCV mission partnerships and projects, your church might want to specialize its efforts by adopting a particular people group, volunteering specific talents and abilities where needed, or assisting a NAMB or IMB missionary in the field. You have direct access to the needs and may apply on line.

For North American Missions, go to www.namb.net and click on Volunteering in Missions. From there you will be able to find opportunities for individuals and teams, for both adults and students.

For International Missions go to www.imb.org and answer the following questions: “How can I serve? and What can I do?” From there you can choose from three types of service opportunities: Volunteer, Short-Term or Long-Term.
