Mission Partnerships - Dakotas

dakotas_logo_webReaching Across States

Beginning in January of 2009, the SBCV is intentionally engaged in a new partnership that will facilitate our churches taking the Gospel to our Samaria by way of a new state-to-state partnership with the Dakota Baptist Convention.

In August of 2008, five representatives from SBCV churches and missionary personnel traveled to assess the needs of the harvest in parts of both North and South Dakota. The focus of that trip was in the eastern-most portions of each state along the 1-29 corridor between Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Fargo, North Dakota. A large percentage of the population of each state resides along this corridor, which will be the focus of much of our four-year partnership. On the south end of the corridor, Sioux Falls is home to 200,000 people, among which are just six Southern Baptist Churches. In the northern end, Fargo is home to 175,000 people among whom are three Southern Baptist churches and one brand-new church plant. Scattered along the 400 miles in between, there are many smaller towns, some in which there is no Southern Baptist or evangelical church at all. The fields are truly ripe and ready for harvest!
