Mobilizing Churches

Mobilizing Church Newsletter - May 18, 2010

The first several months of 2010 have been filled with opportunities to serve our Lord.  From Disaster Relief to Baptist Builders, Hands on Mission Projects and Partnerships, there has been something for everyone.  As we look to the months ahead, Families on Mission will once again be active in Big Stone Gap, VA, new Baptist Builders projects, Studentz Dakota Mission trip, new Hands on Mission projects...well the list goes on.  Many of you, the SBCV churches, are also heavily engaged in taking the Gospel to Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and the Ends of the Earth.

As you go, please send your stories and photos of what God is doing through you so they can be shared and be an encouragement to others.  May God bless you as you Go and Serve.

New England Floods

Southern Baptist teams continue to work in New England. One hundred sixty-two (162) mudout jobs have been completed. Presently there are teams from Maryland-Delaware, Michigan, Minnesota-Wisconsin, New England, New Mexico, North Carolina, Pennsylvania-South Jersey, South Carolina, and Southern Baptist Conservatives of Virginia (SBCV) serving Christ by serving the people of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island.

Buckets of HopeHaiti - Buckets of Hope

The first SBCV Haiti team leaves on May 22 and will be in Haiti until May 29th. Please pray for their safety and for opportunities to share the Gospel.

We are still waiting on God's perfect timing to see the Buckets of Hope released from customs and used to minister to Haitian families. Faithful Southern Baptists remain steadfast in praying for the release of these buckets. We are confident in our God for we know, "There is no authority except from God," Romans 13:1 (HCSB). He, and He alone, sees clearly the miracles He is about in Haiti. We wait patiently on His will to be revealed.

Pray4Haitiprayerwalk virtually in Haiti, giving thanks for the mighty works God is performing in Haiti and lifting up the country, the people, and the volunteers sharing Christ with the Haitian people.

Experience Jesus at the "Happy" Church

-- CommUNITY Church, Salem They call themselves "Happy" and indeed they are as they now have a place to call home. Members say they were tired of moving from one building to another renting space to worship. They purchased a building that had great rooms for classrooms and office space, but the adjoining warehouse was too big.  They needed to build a sanctuary inside the warehouse.  Baptist Builders joined with the CommUNITY Church family the week of April 12th thru 17th to build. Forty-five volunteers from 6 churches including the CommUNITY family, worked together. A 5,000+ square foot room was framed with metal studs and walls up to 18 ft high were completed with drywall. Electrical outlets and exit signs over the doors were wired. An area of refuge was constructed at the top of the stairwell. By Saturday afternoon cleaning began and the sanctuary was set up with chairs and even wired with a sound system. With new hymnals and flowers in place, CommUNITY Church was ready for Sunday morning worship April 18th!
