Beginning in January of 2011, the SBC of Virginia is offering a brand-new opportunity for lay leaders, called Centers for Leadership Development (CLD).
CLD gives ordinary folks all the training they need to reach specific people groups for Christ. Those interested will come live in a target area and receive training while directly ministering in their context. It's a fantastic opportunity to learn about sharing the Word of God with specific types of people while living amongst them.

Who can be a part of CLD?
CLD is designed for lay people in the church who believe God is calling them to ministry leadership roles, but may lack the skills or training to equip them for the task. Pastors are encouraged to suggest CLD as an option to church members who may need some “just in time training” as they answer God’s call to live as missionaries among a people to whom He is sending them.
Centers for Leadership Development will offer diplomas in Christian Ministry, Theology, and in Church Planting.
Educational Requirements
Education is extremely valuable, but because CLD focuses on equipping lay leaders just in time to serve the people they are reaching, graduate and undergraduate degrees (and even High School diplomas) are not a requirement.

Who will CLD reach?
Currently, there are plans to launch 3 centers in 2011 in Northern Virginia; Greater Washington, DC; and Appalachia. Each center will be focused on the needs of reaching specific people groups: Hispanics in Northern Virginia; urban multi-cultural residents in Washington, DC; and various Appalachian communities in southwest Virginia.

Appalachia
Our first CLD will focus on the Appalachian region of Southwest Virginia. We are praying for leaders who are willing to come, train, and minister in answer to the Lord's calling in their lives.
