Prayer Request
Our church supports Jason and Beth Lang in Church planting and training in Nicaragua. My wife and I also support the Langs separately from the church. Please pray for the family during this transition time. Below is some information about the Langs.
The couple plans to be in the field by late Spring or early Summer. Jason and Beth have three small children. Jason was a former member of East End Baptist, Rainbow Forest Baptist and First Baptist Roanoke. He is a graduate of SEBTS. He served at South End Baptist Church in Frederick, Md. of the Baptist Convention of Maryland/Delaware.
South End is their “sending church” based out of Pennsylvania. We have not taken any trips to Nicaragua at this point.

A Note from Colonial Heights Baptist Church
Wallace and Kim spoke at our Global Impact Conference last November and shared how the Lord was using Chosen Children Ministries (CCM) to minister to the people of Nicaragua. As a result, 27 individuals were led to become a unified team to serve with CCM in Nicaragua the week of May 14th. What a blessing it was to serve with Wallace, Kim, Guillermo and his wonderful staff! God used the team to do construction work, door-to-door evangelism, a medical clinic, VBS for children and discipling of adults and teenagers.
As we arrived for the first day of ministry in the Marvin Salazar Barrio, we were warmly greeted by children and adults with smiling faces and hugs. We were blessed to not only serve in the Marvin Salazar Barrio, but in the orphanage and a nearby barrio. During the week in Nicaragua, we saw 76 individuals come to know Jesus as Savior and Lord, believers were encouraged and many seeds planted. Our Lord used the Medical Team to treat 300 people; the Construction Team to build a house, a bathroom, and bathroom with shower for Pastor Ervin; and minister to a large group of children each day through chronological bible story teaching, singing songs in Spanish, and games.
One of the many heart-touching events of the trip was when we visited the "Dump." We were so blessed as we witnessed these individuals who were so humble as Wallace shared God's love and plan of salvation. They removed their hats and stood in a reverent attitude as Wallace prayed for them. What an example for each of us! We had the privilege in ministering to the couple by feeding them and providing gift bags of toiletries. We all left changed by what we had experienced and by seeing the need for this ministry.
Many team members participated in door-to-door evangelism even though they were doing other ministries. Kenny Turner who was on the Construction Team went out one day with a team to do door-to-door evangelism and shared the Gospel with a man who prayed to receive Christ. Kenny asked the translator with the team if the man really understood what he had just done. Kenny received the answer to his question the next day when this man sought him out. He asked Kenny to show him the verses he had shared with him. Kenny and the translator underlined the verses in the Spanish Bible he had been given, and they turned the corner of the pages down so he could easily find them. When they asked why he wanted to know this, he shared that he had six brothers who did not know Jesus, and he wanted to share Jesus with his brothers.
Now we are back home with our families, but we are forever changed by our Lord as a result of what He showed us and let us experience. We so miss our brothers and sisters in Christ with CCM; the Nicaraguan people; the hugs and singing of the many children; and, of course, rice and beans and "Chikies." Thank you, Wallace and Kim, for how our Lord is using you to change the lives of the Nicaraguan people for Jesus and changing us as we had the privilege of coming along side you in this wonderful ministry. All the praise to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

Ministry Updates:
1. Extreme Backpack Ministry: Every January a network church leads a team to go backpacking in the mountains of northern Nicaragua to share the gospel and distribute food and supplies. They have recently discovered a village that was previously unreached and did not have bibles. They are now identifying many remote areas like this and leaving them solar powered audio bibles. This happens once a year.
2. Pastor Training: A network Church is developing a program where 10-12 pastors come in once a month throughout the year for basic theological training. They are planting churches in remote villages and now want to have an environment where we can encourage and equip those pastors. This will take place every month this year. They will also be hosting a large Pastor's Conference in Managua once a year in the fall.
3. Agricultural Training: Agricultural Training: God has raised up a leader in Nicaragua who has discovered a system where a family can survive on 1/10 of an acre of land. The system includes building a compost heap, small garden, chickens, and rabbits. A network church is currently developing the structure and facility to bring local leaders in, teach them the system, provide them with startup supplies and animals, and then empower them to go back to their villages to train others. This is an ongoing project.
4. Village Outreach: This ministry helps people meet their chief need for a Savior, while also helping to meet the critical physical needs of hunger, poor substandard housing, shortage of water, lack of schools and education, lack of churches and pastor sponsorship. Each team spends about a week in country ministering to the Nicaraguan people in some of the more remote villages. Besides the sharing of the Gospel we offer general economic, health care, and emergency relief. To date a network church has helped feed tens of thousands of hungry people with hundreds of tons of food.
Prayer requests:
- Pray that we would be able to identify more unreached villages in the remote mountains of northern Nicaragua.
- Pray that we would be able to develop a theological training method that would equip the pastors in the context in which they serve.
- Pray for the resources needed to build and distribute supplies for the 1/10 of an acre agricultural program.
- Pray for the economic and healthcare problems among the people of Nicaragua.
- Pray for the gospel to go to every village in every corner of this beautiful country.
