It is the desire of the SBCV to provide, as possible, financial aid for ministerial students or other full-time Christian ministry workers who need assistance in completing their direct educational preparation for ministry. The SBCV Scholarship Fund awards grants to ministerial students for the payment of tuition costs.

The SBCV Scholarship Fund is limited to tuition and textbooks. The benefits of this fund are available to applicants who qualify for aid and who will attend a seminary owned by the Southern Baptist Convention or a Bible college/seminary that maintains a conservative, evangelical statement of beliefs consistent with those held by the SBCV.

The applicant shall be a member of a participating SBCV church that has given SBCV Cooperative Program funds during the calendar year, and the applicant must affirm a belief in the most recent Baptist Faith and Message Statement.  Applicants will be evaluated on the following criteria:  statement of belief, evidence of commitment to the local church, evidence of the call of God in his/her life, and financial need.

These scholarships are available for full-time students seeking Seminary Master's Degrees ONLY!  Part-time bivocational students will be considered by the committee. All final decisions are made by the committee.

Scholarships will be awarded on an annual basis.  Recipients must be full-time students and maintain an academic standard of at least a "C" average.  Applications must be postmarked on or before April 1 in order to be considered for either the entire school year or any of its semesters.  Incomplete applications will not be considered. Applications will not be accepted for Summer Sessions.  Applicants will be notified of action taken by the Scholarship Committee of the SBCV.

Baptist Communicators Association (BCA) Student Scholarship:
The BCA will award three scholarships to encourage the growth and professional development of students in the religious communications field.  BCA will award one $1,000 scholarship to an undergraduate student, one $1,000 scholarship to an undergraduate of minority or ethnic or international origin, and one $500 sholarship to a graduate student.

Here are the Student Scholarship Guidelines:
1. Applicants must be in good standing and present three letters of recommendation.  Letters may come from teachers, employers, and individuals connected to his/her academic institution or church.
2. The student must have a 2.5 overall grade point average, with preference to be given by te committee to those who exceed minimum requirements.
3. A statement should accompany the application stating why the student desires to have the BCA scholarship
4. The applicant's resume should accompany the application.
5. The scholarship shall be for a one-year peroid (two semesters).  The recipient may apply for the scholarship for more than one year, but the committee reserves the right to make its decision on need and merit each year.
6. The Scholarship Committee will announce the winner(s) during the BCA workshop held this year in Mobile, Alabama, April 11-14, 2007
7. Students applying for the Compton and Stanley Scholarship must be of minority ethnic descent or international origin.
8. Undergraduate applicants must be communications, English, journalism, or public relations majors whose vocational objective is in religious communications.  Graduate applicants must also have vocational aspirations in relgious communications.  This is not a scholarship for ministerial students.
9. Application must be postmarked by Friday, Decmber 8, 2006.
10. Scholarship funds will be forwarded to recipients' institutions no later than August 1st.
