08 Evangelism ConferenceRecap
"I brought with me a young believer who has only been coming to our church for two weeks. He will be baptized this Sunday. He was greatly encouraged. It reminded me of a pit bull on a T-bone steak. Thank you for investing in eternity." Allen Bonnell
March 10th-11th saw Christians gather to be inspired and challenged at the 2008 Evangelism Conference. This year's event was divided among 4 locations over the two days to provide the maximum opportunity for you to attend. Nearly a thousand participated with another four thousand having been impacted during the preceding services. The dynamic and challenging preaching of such notables as Ed Stetzer, Richard Harris, David Wheeler, Ergun Caner, Jerry Pipes, Scott Smith, Ken Weathersby, Dave Earley and James Merritt was a call to action. In addition, there were more than a dozen break-out sessions designed to equip staff and lay persons with practical evangelism tools.
One pastor emailed this response; "The words that came from these men were not their own. They came from the Lord. It was as if they were reading my mind and knew my exact situation in ministry. I am not talking about mere general platitudes. I am talking about specific and detailed instruction from the Living God. When I entered the church, I was an unsure and discouraged pastor who had no direction or vision for what the Lord wanted to do in my ministry. When I walked out of the church that evening, I was an anointed, Spirit-filled, on-fire pastor determined to stay in the place where God planted me so that I and His church could the reach lost in the community and around the world. Can a conference do this? No. Only God can do this, but God used the Evangelism conference and those speakers not to bring me a blessing, but to absolutely transform me. I am not the same and I pray I never will be the same."
Expanded to four locations this year, several churches took advantage of the keynote speakers and invited them to preach in their Sunday Services preceding the Conference. The results were an astounding 4,107 in attendance with at least 12 decisions for Christ during these services. Praise the Lord that He is sending newly equipped and on fire laborers into the harvest field to "Push Back the Darkness".
