WEEK OF PRAYER

One week each year, from Sunday to Sunday, Virginia Southern Baptists join together in praying for missions. The official Vision Virginia Week of Prayer for 2018 is September 16 – 23rd, but our prayer guides are un-dated so that your church may join together in prayer whenever it fits you best. The week of prayer emphases are listed below by day. Please join with us in lifting these ministries up before the Father.

DAY 1

REVITALIZATION

This resource is a process for a church to retain the same people with the same leadership and to catch a fresh vision for their church and community. Pray for the churches that need revitalization to be rejuvenated again for God’s glory and honor.

DAY 2

MINISTRY INTERN SCHOLARSHIPS

This scholarship provides assistance to churches who benefit from a ministry intern. Pray for church leaders as they invest in the next generation and for ministry interns as they gain valuable experience and faithfully serve.

DAY 3

FOOD DISTRIBUTION

Many churches prepare and share meals each month with impoverished families in their communities. The Vision Virginia offering partially supports these efforts. Pray that our hearts will burden for those who go hungry and that God will bless our efforts.

DAY 4

APPALACHIAN MINISTRIES

This region of America is extremely impoverished. Families lack the basic supplies that many others take for granted everyday. Pray that God will continue to work through SBC of Virginia churches with mission projects like Christmas Backpacks for Appalachia.

DAY 5

BAPTIST BUILDERS

Baptist Builders is a ministry of workers who use construction skills to serve Jesus Christ. Even if volunteers do not have any previous experience, all that is required is a willing heart. Pray that God will raise up more workers to share their talents for God’s Kingdom.

DAY 6

CHURCH PLANTING

This is one of the core values of the SBC of Virginia. This convention is committed to penetrating lostness through church planting. Pray that God will bless new planters and that He will continue to provide new partnerships from churches.

DAY 7

SEMINARIAN SCHOLARSHIPS

Students yielding to the call of ministry and who are completing their seminary education can benefit from this incredible financial resource. Pray that God will work through these gifts to encourage His ministers in their formal training.

DAY 8

DISASTER RELIEF

Southern Baptist Disaster Relief is the third largest responding agency in North America! Praise God for all of the Virginia volunteers trained and ready to respond. Pray that God will raise up more volunteers to be equipped and ready for when the need arises.
