Twenty-one. That’s the number of salvation decisions that Campbell Avenue Baptist Church in urban Lynchburg recorded in the fall of 2021. Pastor John Pickett had been praying for God to bring someone who could help kick-start the children’s and youth ministries of Campbell Avenue Baptist Church.

Week of Prayer

The week of prayer is September 18-25, 2022.
Day 1: English as a Second Language
Day 1: English as a Second Language

Pray that the Lord would empower and provide leaders for English as a Second Language (ESL), bring the lost and needy to ESL ministries, and reach many with the Gospel through ESL ministries.

Day 2: Seminarian Scholarships
Day 2: Seminarian Scholarships

Seeking to obey God’s call, seminary students from SBCV churches benefit from scholarships provided through the Vision Virginia Missions Offering. Pray that God will work through these gifts to encourage His ministers in their formal training.

Day 3: Mission Teams Training
Day 3: Mission Teams Training

Before mission teams from churches head to the mission field, training is essential. Pray that more laborers will submit to God’s call and that He will use the training to prepare and use them for His glory.

Day 4: Leadership Development
Day 4: Leadership Development

Students, collegians, seminarians, and church staff receive many opportunities throughout the year to develop further as relevant leaders. Pray that church leaders will learn from these opportunities and continue to grow into Christlike shepherds.

Day 5: Church Planting
Day 5: Church Planting

The SBC of Virginia is committed to penetrating lostness through church planting. Pray that God will bless new church plants/planters and that He will continue to provide new planting partnerships with established churches.

Day 6: Revitalization
Day 6: Revitalization

Revitalization is a process that helps a struggling church catch a fresh vision for itself and its community to reach more for the Gospel. Pray for the pastors of these churches as they lead their congregations and pray that the churches will be rejuvenated for God’s glory and honor.

Day 7: Disaster Relief
Day 7: Disaster Relief

Southern Baptist Disaster Relief is the third largest responding agency in North America. Praise God for all of the SBCV volunteers trained and ready to respond. Pray that God will raise up many others to be equipped and ready when the need arises.

Day 8: Worship Equipment for Church Plants
Day 8: Worship Equipment for Church Plants

Among the many expenses of launching a new church is the cost of buying the equipment needed to begin corporate worship. Pray that worship leaders at church plants will have access to all that is necessary for their ministry.
