The Spirit of the Lord God is on Me, because the Lord has anointed Me…to give them a crown of beauty instead of ashes…(Isaiah 61:3)
Our family recently started a compost pile. We are beginners and are amazed at what can go into a compost pile and what it actually does for your garden.
Just a few of the things that can be put in a compost pile include used coffee grounds, rotten vegetables, grass clippings, dead leaves, banana peels, egg shells, and ashes from your fireplace. When applied, compost loosens the particles so that roots spread, air penetrates, and water drains. It even changes the soil structure to prevent erosion and disease. It seems crazy that you can take all of these used, unwanted, and completely destroyed items to create a nutrient-rich soil by which your garden comes alive and thrives.
That is what God wants to do in us. He wants to take our regrets, failures, and inadequacies —even those parts of our lives that have been or need to be burned completely to the ground to create an enriched soul from which life will come. Let Him take the ashes from your life and turn them into something beautiful.
What areas in your life does God want to reduce to ashes in order to make you into His beautiful masterpiece?
