The SBC of Virginia offers training to equip members of SBC of Virginia churches so they are able to respond during times of disaster. Each training offers necessary instruction for volunteers to respond with other Southern Baptists around the world during times of disaster and crisis. The training is practical and allows those, 18 years old and above, to serve with confidence. Because of our partnerships with FEMA, Salvation Army, Red Cross, IMB, NAMB and other SBC State Conventions, we have a credentialing process that allows us to respond to the front lines of a disaster. Training events are offered across the Commonwealth; so, if a particular date does not work for you, there is another training within a couple hours drive.
Structure
Four Tiers of Volunteers in Virginia:
- Tier One – Untrained volunteers that can respond with their church to needs in their community.
- Tier Two – Volunteers that have attended a Ready Church training event – Able to respond to local events in their community.
- Tier Three – Volunteers that have completed the Ready Church training, Intro to a National Response (The part of the ISBDR not taught in Ready Church) and two unit-specific trainings. These are Yellow Shirts.
- Tier Four – Tier Three Volunteers that have International DR training.
Cost
Ready Church Orientation – $20.
Ready Church Orientation is from 8:00am until 12:30pm.
