If we asked, I’m guessing we would find most of us don’t like to wait on stuff. We don’t like waiting on people. We don’t like waiting on anything. Today, we are going to pray for one of our missionary couples who had to wait on the Lord to act.
We’ll call them Edward and Terri, but those are not their real names. They serve in Southeast Asia, where missionaries are not welcome. Our church supports them through our Cooperative Program giving.
Years ago Edward and Terri moved to a village to work with an unreached people group there. The group had not even one believer. They rejected the gospel. But Edward and Terri kept patiently sharing Jesus. Their home church in America prayed for them. Finally, after much time had passed, one person accepted Christ as Savior.
Then our missionaries asked for prayer that a church could be planted.
Finally, that first church was planted. It took 14 years — 14 years of persistent work and persistent prayer!
It was the first church among this entire people group. Let’s pray today for Edward and Terri — and ask God for a second church. And a third…
