The LORD has done great things for us; we are glad. (Psalm 126:3)
Hindsight is 20/20. Have you ever heard that? It rings true, doesn’t it? In other words, as we survey our past, God’s providence and sovereign rule over us is made crystal clear.
When our son was 12, I had to tell him we were leaving Georgia and moving to Virginia. He was devastated. He had to say goodbye to all he had ever known — church family, close friends, and an amazing Little League program. Today, 15 years later, he is married to his Virginia sweetheart, and they are expecting a son. Had he known back in 2005 what he knows now, I don’t think the move to Virginia would have been so overwhelming. He now sees how God’s plan played out.
So, when our futures seem cloudy or uncertain — when we get anxious or even devastated about tomorrow — look back at God’s sovereign grace in what He has done in our lives. Trust that He will finish what He has started. After all, “the LORD has done great things for us; we are glad.”
