Who is a God like you, forgiving iniquity and passing over rebellion for the remnant of his inheritance? He does not hold on to his anger forever because he delights in faithful love.” (Micah 7:18, CSB)
Micah is one of those Old Testament prophets whose books are hard to read. The leaders of Israel have, “…hated good and loved evil (3:2),”the prophets have lied and led the people to follow other gods, and even “…the most upright is worse than a hedge of thorns (7:4).” God is about to bring devastating punishment on His people for their sin.
Thankfully, that is not how the book ends. Micah concludes the book remembering the goodness of God. God is rightly angry with sin, but He doesn’t hold onto His anger forever. He delights in showing his faithful love to His people.
