“Let your love be without hypocrisy, abhor evil and cling to that which is good.” (Romans 12:9)
It is amazing how the world sees the church. They stand on the outside looking in and make judgments based off of past experiences or hear-say. The most popular excuse for not having anything to do with Jesus is the “hypocrite” excuse. Either they don’t want to be one or they don’t want to be around one.
In Matthew 23, Jesus lays out His disdain for those who live hypocritical lives. He classifies them into four categories. The posers, pushers, preventers, or preoccupied.
The Posers want everyone to see them as they act out their Christianity.
The Pushers force everyone to act the way he thinks they should act.
The Preventers keep everyone they know from experiencing God.
The Preoccupied clean the outside of the dish but leave the inside filthy.
When people, who are looking in from the outside, see the church how are they viewing it through your life? Are you finding yourself in one of these categories? We don’t have to be. Instead, let our lives be a life of love that is sincere. Let us do our own evaluation and deal with us before we deal with others.
Father God, thank you for calling me unto yourself. Use your Holy Spirit to search my heart and see if there is any wicked way in me. Then show so I can confess and repent and receive your mighty restoration. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
