He said to his disciples, ‘Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?’ They were terrified and asked each other, ‘Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!’”(Mark 4:40-41)
One of my favorite Bible stories is Jesus crossing the sea of Galilee with His disciples.
Most of these men were skilled fishermen who made their living catching fish from these very waters before following Jesus. They had weathered many storms and labored day in and out there upon the waters.
As they made their way across the lake this evening Jesus lays down to rest while the disciples tend to the needs of the boat. And like a lot of life’s moments, a storm came up. A storm so powerful that the disciples were afraid of the boat sinking, they were afraid they might not make it out of this alive. So, they cried out to Jesus, “…do you not care that we are perishing?” Jesus awoke and rebuked the wind and the waves, and it was still.
Do you realize that He can calm the storms of your life? He can bring peace and clarity, sustain you with faith and hope when we see nothing but hopelessness.
