Ministry Description
Scope: Responsible for all aspects of service, Band, Choir, Music, and Production Team
Responsible to: Senior Pastor for day to day operations, Personnel Committee for fulfilling responsibilities defined in the job description, defining goals, evaluation, and communication of concerns related to the performance of the position.
Primary Function: The Director of Worship and Music (DWM) will give the highest priority to cultivating and coordinating the Music Ministry of the church. The DWM will develop programs and strategies that will encourage members of the music ministry teams, as well as the congregation, to deepen their spiritual lives and to grow in their understanding of God and their commitment to God’s Kingdom. This individual will enlist, equip, empower, encourage, and evaluate church participants for possible service in the music ministry. The DWM will partner with the Pastor and professional ministerial team, to lead the congregation to fulfill its vision and mission of “encouraging people in our ever-expanding community to follow Jesus Christ with ever-increasing passion. The Director of Worship and Music will report directly to the Pastor and fulfill this part-time position designed for 16 hours per week.
Responsibilities: The following duties are not to be seen as a comprehensive list, nor to be used as a checklist, but rather to serve as a guide for the DWM in understanding his or her obligations.
The DWM will:
1. Plan and organize the music ministry which includes leading the choir, praise band, and all other components of the music ministry.
2. Work with Pastor to choose and coordinate the music for each service to amplify the theme of the service’s message.
3. Supervise the use and integration of audio/visual components during the worship service to ensure each service is presented in a smooth, flowing manner that enhances the worship experience.
4. Have an understanding of the different styles of worship music and the preferences of different individuals and develop the music into an integrated or blended music experience.
5. Recruit, encourage, and mentor individuals and small groups for presenting special music during worship.
6. Identify, recruit, develop, empower, and oversee leaders in growing and building their teams for the Music Ministry.
7. Produce Holiday presentations, Christmas, Easter
8. Participate in ongoing professional development and networking to enhance knowledge and make connections that will help develop the skills required for this position.
9. Assist in providing the musicians a proper physical space in the church that will maximize opportunities for spiritual formation, as well as ensure a safe, clean, and healthy environment, while recognizing the space is shared with other organizations.
10. Meet and consult regularly with the professional ministerial team to brainstorm, communicate, and coordinate the programs of the Music Ministry.
Job Qualifications
1. The Director will strive to be a passionate follower of Jesus Christ.
2. The Director must be at least 22 years of age.
3. The Director should hold a Bachelor's Degree, preferably with a degree in music or religious studies. Degree requirements may be met with relevant work experience.
Master’s Degree or graduate-level classes a plus.
4. The Director should have proven musical talent and the ability to coach and guide the music ministry, including proficiency at reading music. Ability to lead the congregation and music participants a must. Ability to play one or more instruments a plus.
5. Because the Director represents the Church to the larger community, he or she should strive to live a life that is beyond reproach and demonstrate a sense of grace and forgiveness when dealing with others.
6. The Director shall submit to and pass a background check.

• Excellent people, leadership, and organizational skills.
• A track-record of excellence as a worship leader.
• Be an example by supporting the total ministry of Enon Baptist Church through attendance, verbal encouragement, and generous financial contributions.
• Be available for weddings, and funerals as needed.
• Oversee Children’s Music Ministries in conjunction with the Children’s Ministry Director
a. to have children's music offerings during worship services 2, 4 times per year
b. to put on a Christmas children's program in December
• Duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor.

Schedule and Compensation
Hours Per Week: 16 hrs/week average
$15,000 - $20,000/year, depending on experience
