Contemporary and Traditional Worship Leader
The role of the Worship Leader is to oversee the music ministry team of the church by developing, coordinating, and administering Spirit-led worship while providing leadership and supervision of the music programs and the technical staff and equipment.
-Model and lead heartfelt worship in an invitational style – drawing people in, encouraging participation, and pointing to Jesus
-Shepherd and maintain accountability with Worship Choir, vocalists, and accompanists in singular and corporate worship
-Guide and instruct congregation in true biblical worship, both singularly and corporately
-Prepare a sermon for the congregation in the simultaneous absence of both Youth Pastor and Pastor (preferred)
-Work weekly with the Pastor to plan, prepare, and provide direction for both traditional and contemporary worship services
-Oversee both a Worship Choir and Worship Band through recruitment, rehearsals, and musical training, Include the choir and/or band as a regular part of worship where it fits stylistically.
-Lead and direct worship at weekly-scheduled and special services, utilizing worship teams.
-Lead and direct music for annual Vacation Bible School/Sports Camp programming, as needed
-Enlist and use the talents within the church congregation
-Oversee and provide direction to vocalists, music ministry team, and technicians responsible for audio, visuals, lighting, and other worship-related technical equipment (ProPresenter, Easy Worship, Aviom System, Live Stream, etc.…)
-Implement logistical details and provide support and expertise for concerts, musicals and special evangelistic efforts that involve music and other technical areas of the church
-Maintain a constant program of self-improvement by keeping informed of current music methods, worship materials, promotional ideas, and administrative techniques
-Maintain regular and consistent communication with ALL worship teams, paid music staff, volunteers, Music Committee members, and other music ministry teams in the Church
-Select and purchase all needed music, equipment, and instruments, as well as all-related resources in music and worship. Purchases will be withdrawn from the yearly Praise --Band, Choir, and/or Music Budget with any overage to come before the Church in a Business Meeting for approval.
-Oversee maintenance of the music library, materials and supplies, musical instruments, and equipment involved in the music ministry
-Maintain copyright records and adhere to lawful guidelines applicable to the use of copyrighted material
-Agreement and observance of the Southern Baptist Faith and Message
-Born again Christian, servant-hearted, with a genuine passion for worship, music, and Christian unity
-Bachelor’s degree (preferred) or equivalent education of music and musical direction experience
-Ability to sing, read, and teach music
-Ability to play and perform using a musical instrument (Piano or Guitar preferred)
-Ability to understand and appreciate the full range of musical styles, both traditional and contemporary
-Ability to lead musical groups
-Basic knowledge using social media platforms
-Ability to take direction and work as a team member
-Basic knowledge using Microsoft Office suite products (Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, Excel)
-Basic knowledge using Google suite products (Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Meets)
