A hallmark of cooperative missions amongst SBCV churches is Disaster Relief. “Yellow Shirts,” as they are known, are trained Southern Baptist volunteers renowned for helping communities after natural disaster strikes. As the fall brings greater risk of destructive weather, consider helping prepare Disaster Relief for ministry.
In 2018, SBCV Disaster Relief Ministries served 31,500 man hours.
Over 100 churches partnered together with 581 volunteering.
Countless lives were impacted; 15+ received salvation.
You are invited to be a part of the work!
ways to be involved
PLEASE PRAY for first responders and Disaster Relief volunteers.
PLEASE GO attend a Disaster Relief Training this fall to be prepared to serve!
PLEASE GIVE gift cards that will allow those affected to address their specific needs.
“Gift cards are the most effective way to directly assist those impacted by disaster. They can be easily sent to the affected area and then distributed by the local church. This allows those affected to select exactly what they need and have the dignity of purchasing these items.”
-Mark Gauthier, Director of Disaster Relief
General goods stores, such as Wal-Mart and Home Depot, will best serve families in need. As Yellow Shirt volunteers serve and sow in the community, the gift cards will be used as rays of hope and healing to the hurting. Join with us in asking the Lord to use all aspects of Disaster Relief ministry – the work and the witness – to bring temporary and eternal peace to many.
