You don’t need to raise your hand — but most of us here probably have a cell phone in our hand, pocket, or purse. Sometimes we think they’re a curse. Right?
That brings us to Patrick Stein, as we’ll call him, one of our missionaries serving in North Africa. He’s serving with a team of our other missionaries in a large city with millions of people who need to hear the gospel. But how? It’s a Muslim land and the Christian faith is banned. A person found with a Bible would be jailed or worse.
Patrick saw that most of the young people here carry cell phones. So the missionaries adapted 50 Bible stories into the local language and a website for downloading them.
Now, people can download the stories and ask questions on social media — on their phones, safely. Trained believers answer questions.
It worked! People responded. One man talked online and then met a local believer in person. He heard the gospel and became a Christian.
Let’s pray for Patrick and the others. Our church supports them through the Cooperative Program. And let’s pray for those believers who risk their lives to share the precious gospel.
