Prayers & Donations Needed for Flooded Families
June 29, 2016 | Lynchburg, Virginia: Families who survived last week’s flooding in West Virginia and Virginia need help. Hundreds of houses are a total loss. Homes that withstood the high water need gutting. These families need assistance of service and giving.
SBC of Virginia church volunteers are on the scenes right now cleaning and feeding families impacted by the floodwaters. Prayers and financial contributions are appreciated by every personal encounter we make. We want these families to know that they are not alone – we are in this together.
Folks are encouraged to donate online where 100% of the contributions go to SBC of Virginia Disaster Relief efforts. The collection of Flood Buckets that include basic cleaning supplies and necessities are also welcomed during this time. To learn more about this and other ways to donate, visit the SBC of Virginia website: sbcv.org/floodrelief.
As families begin the rebuilding process, furniture and appliances have been requested. Fincastle Baptist Church in Fincastle, Virginia is collecting these items at their church location. Coordinators are asking for new or gently used sofas, tables, chairs, mattresses, refrigerators, washers, dryers, and more.
To learn more about items needed and when and where to drop off, go to the Fincastle Baptist Church website, Fincastlebaptist.org.
Photos, videos, and interviews from the flooded areas are available at the request of the SBC of Virginia media office.
