Today, let’s pray for two missionaries our church supports in Ohio. Robert and Danielle Kane have planted a new church in Westerville, a city of some 40,000 people on the northern edge of Columbus. This is just outside the I-270 beltline that circles that city.
Let’s understand why Robert and Danielle were called there. Ohio has a population of some 12 million. But there are few evangelical churches. That’s why our North American Mission Board has sent some 60 church planters to Ohio in recent years, including 17 to the Columbus area. Robert and Danielle planted Citizens Church to share Christ with a mostly middle- to upper-income area. Basically, most local people are comfortable and do not understand that they are spiritually lost.
Robert leads members to keep their eyes open to see witnessing opportunities that pop up in daily living. The church serves food after every Sunday service so there’s more time for fellowship and getting to know visitors. The church also sponsors events like community picnics so members can meet people. All these have helped the church grow. So far, the Citizen Church meets Sundays in a school building, but small groups of members meet other times around the community.
Our church is helping support Robert and Danielle through our Cooperative Program giving. Let’s pray for them now. And let’s ask God their new church will grow, raise up new leaders and plant more new churches all over Columbus.
