Sergio Guardia is the director of Hispanic Ministries of the SBC of Virginia. His role is to empower Spanish-speaking and English-speaking churches to mobilize churches in missions and outreach of the churches. He has been with SBCV since 2011, planning and coordinating Spanish conferences and local workshops for the churches, its leaders and members.
Sergio and his wife, Laura, live in Lynchburg. He was the pastor of Thomas Road Baptist Church’s Spanish Campus from2008 until September 2019 when he took the new leadership role in the SBCV. He remains one of the pastors of Thomas Road, developing multicultural ministries. Sergio was born in Alexandria, but grew up in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. He studied Business Administration at Private University of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, working later at Word of Life Argentina for three years. There, he met his wife Laura, whom he married in 2005. The couple has three children: Isabella, 13; Daniela, 11; and Sergio Natán, 5.
His desire is to share and spread the vision among the Hispanic churches and help to create partnerships with English speaking churches – to be a multiplier of multipliers.
