Sometimes we pass beggars and give nothing.
Well, today we are going to Colombia, South America, to pray for our missionaries, Travis and Beth Burkhalter.
Beth saw poor women begging on the streets of Medellin and she was curious, then concerned.
She learned that these women are part of the Embera people group. They have their own language and often do not speak Spanish. Most of them are uneducated. They have been driven from their homelands by wars.
Travis and Beth began sharing Bible stories with a group of women. Beth saw they needed a way to make money and survive. Then she saw the beautiful and fine beaded jewelry the women make.
Beth helped the women start selling their jewelry in an organized way. She even helped them sell online.
Beth hopes the women can make enough money to support their families and have decent places to live. And she prays they will also find the true liberty that only comes with accepting Christ as Savior.
Our church is helping support Travis and Beth through our Cooperative Program giving as they serve down there in South America.
Let’s pray for them now.
