Our world is surely a fallen world. Sin and darkness are all over the place threatening to take over, but we have such an incredible Father that is so much bigger. I see a hunger in so many to do something big for the Lord. I see women, especially, dreaming up such incredible dreams to glorify the Lord that I pray they will see come true. I see them craving platforms to do so, and while these dreams and goals are spectacular, we must not forget that we do not need only big dreams in order to share Christ with the world.
A huge platform is great, but it is not a necessity for Jesus to move.
During my quiet time this week, I keep being reminded of this. I have gotten so much into the habit of thinking that when this thing happens, then I can make a difference, or when I am at this stage of my life, then I can really shine for Christ. It’s like He has been watching me thinking, “Silly girl, don’t you know that I don’t need any of that in order to move through you?”
Scripture does not tell us that we need all of these things to glorify Christ, and we must remember this while working on our big dreams and goals. You don’t need to be speaking in front of thousands of people for people to see Christ in you. You don’t need to write a best-selling book in order for people to learn who Christ is through you. You just need to obey His word.
Never forget to showcase Jesus in the mundane and day-to-day.
Jesus tells us to “’Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind’” (Matthew 22:37). Not only does He say this, but also look at what He says right after. He says, “This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself’” (Matthew 22:38-39). The most important thing we can do is to first love God with everything we have in us. The second is to love others. In doing so, His light will shine so brightly through us.
Platforms are wonderful opportunities to show others who Christ is, but they are not the only way to do so. He loves to move through these big opportunities and dreams, but a platform means nothing if you are not putting on the characteristics of Christ and letting those characteristics flow from you in your everyday life. While waiting on the big moments, remember that God calls us to be where we are right here and right now, and He wants to work through us in these moments, too. While chasing these God given dreams, we have to be sure to still fulfill His call on our lives in these seemingly smaller moments.
