Nate West had served in the student ministry at The Heights Baptist Church in Colonial Heights, Virginia, but he still struggled with what he thought God wanted in his life. In 2017, he received a Vision Virginia scholarship that allowed him to intern with The Heights Baptist Church Student Ministry over the summer. Not having to worry about getting a summer job, Nate was able to focus instead on his work with The Heights, both in their youth group and summer camp.
During the internship, the leaders of The Heights Student Ministry saw Nate’s struggle with God’s calling. But over the weeks, building relationships with students and opening his heart, Nate reaffirmed God’s calling on his life and ministry.
Now, Nate serves as the youth pastor at Red Lane Baptist Church in Powhatan, Virginia. Students look up to Nate, who puts Christ first in all that he does. Through the internship, provided by the Vision Virginia scholarship, The Heights Baptist Church was able to invest in Nate and now Nate can invest in the next generation.
Thanks to your help through the Vision Virginia missions offering, you allow churches to offer internships to students who need them. And just like Nate, students can have an opportunity to hear God’s calling in their lives. Thank you for your prayers and gifts to equip the next generation into following Jesus.
