Jesus modeled that His followers are to meet physical needs as the Gospel is sown and proclaimed.

God’s Word is clear that we are to minister to the poor and needy. World hunger is the highest it has been in 40 years, and it continues to grow. As Southern Baptists, we want to give like never before to help relieve the pain and suffering that hunger brings to every corner of the world.
The hunger statistics in Virginia may surprise you. There are 1 in 8 Virginians who face the daily challenge of not knowing where their next meal will come from. For children, the statistics are even greater. In 2025, your giving through the Cooperative Program provided 83,000 meals through the SBCV Hunger Relief ministries. Through these hunger ministries, 55 people came to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Your giving makes an immediate and eternal difference in so many lives.
Natural disasters, ongoing droughts, famine, refugee crises, rising food costs, and war all contribute to the overwhelming needs of our world today. 70% of the world’s hungry people live in areas afflicted by war and violence. Our partner ministries offer help and hope to the most vulnerable communities.
Around 12.1% of Virginia households were food insecure in 2025, and with food costs on the rise, that number is expected to grow. SBCV churches are actively meeting those needs right here at home. From food pantries, feeding stations, grocery distribution, and holiday meals, your gifts are at work serving food and sharing Christ. SBC of Virginia supports 9 hunger ministries throughout the state to meet needs and change lives. For 2026, we have allocated $70,000 to these hunger ministries. Your giving helps meet immediate needs and makes an eternal impact on the lives of Virginians throughout the Commonwealth.
Hyland Heights Baptist Church in Rustburg provides relief for hungry families in their area. One of the participants overheard that a Hispanic translator was needed and asked if she could volunteer. She began attending church and professed faith in Christ!
The Community Fellowship in Collinsville, is sharing Jesus’s love by giving boxes filled with food to families in the community – and the number of families keeps growing. This ministry allows the church to have Gospel conversations and lead many to Jesus.
Giving through the Vision Virginia helps relieve hunger both near and far. 100% of your gifts go to help hunger relief through our partner ministries. Seventy percent of every dollar goes to Send Relief, an organization that supports gospel-centered hunger projects in the U.S. and across the globe. Thirty percent of every dollar goes to the SBCV Hunger Fund, which directly meets the needs of Virginians.
Won’t you prayerfully consider how God would have you help ease the pain of hunger for those in need? Your gift can make a difference by meeting needs and sharing God’s love with our neighbors, both far and near.
