The Valley Region is along Interstate 81 and features picture-perfect postcard farms and inns along country roads and the popular Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge Parkway. Surrounded by scenic beauty, the region is filled with historical sites including museums like Frontier Culture Museum in Staunton, dedicated to the pioneers who traveled westward and settled, the Cyrus McCormick Farm, who invented the first reaper, the Birthplace of Woodrow Wilson, and several Civil War historical sites. Some of the wonders of God’s creation are featured here including the Natural Bridge, Luray Caverns, and Shenandoah National Park. In addition, three popular resorts are in the Valley: Bryce, The Omni Homestead Resort, and Massanutten. The region also includes many of the state’s colleges and universities. Overlooking the Valley is the Roanoke Star on Mill Mountain above Roanoke. At 100′ tall, it’s a nod to Roanoke being called the “Star City of the South.”
