Today, let’s pray for two of our Southern Baptist missionaries serving in northern Thailand.
We’ll call them Nathan and Stephanie. They have planted a new church in Chiang Rai. It’s a riverside city of about 200,000 people up near the border with Myanmar.
A new church plant started as Nathan learned the Thai language, notoriously hard to learn. His stressful studies raised his blood pressure, so he went to a local gym.
He saw gym members there had a close-knit community, and the Christian owner of the gym was eager to have a new church planted in the gym.
Now, on Wednesday nights, after members finish their workouts, they have a church service. Yes, those present are sweaty and maybe smelly, but they are learning about Jesus, which is the main thing.
Our church’s Cooperative Program is helping fund the planting of churches like this one across our nation and around the world.
Let’s pray for Nathan and Stephanie as they serve there in Thailand. Let’s ask God to grow that new church — and teach Nathan and Stephanie to speak perfect Thai!
