Jesus modeled that His followers are to meet physical needs as the Gospel is sown and proclaimed.

Your church can partner with a local feeding ministry or food pantry to meet immediate and urgent needs in the community.

Pray

As a result of receiving God’s generous love, believers should give of themselves to others. (1 John 3:16)

Thank God for His generous nature; ask Him to continue to cultivate that in you, your family, and your church.

Scripture teaches that one way we love God is by meeting the physical needs of others. (Matthew 25)

Ask God for the opportunity to honor Him by meeting the needs of the hungry in your community.

As believers live generously, the result is praise to God. (2 Corinthians 9:13)

Ask God for a harvest of praise unto Him as believers meet hunger needs in their communities.

In Your Community

Mobilize your church to host a neighborhood canned food drive!
  1. Select a neighborhood(s) to canvas for canned goods.
  2. Drop a brown grocery bag, with an informational flier, on neighborhood porches.
  3. Return on the advertised day to collect the bags of canned goods.

Donate the canned goods to a local pantry or food bank. Sites can be found at Feeding America.

This project not only helps meet hunger needs but also creates opportunity to meet neighbors!

In the SBCV

Over 60,000 people received meals in 2022 through 10 SBCV-supported hunger ministries across the Commonwealth of Virginia. These meals led to over 6,700 evangelistic encounters and over 60 new believers in Christ! Your church’s giving to Vision Virginia and to Global Hunger Relief makes these ministries possible.

If you’d like to give to Hunger Funds through the SBC of Virginia, your church can send contributions to:
