Work with your Sunday School class, small group, or church to find a way to bless your current or retired missionaries this Christmas. Consider practical ways to care for their loved ones here at home, such as encouraging a college student, visiting an aging parent, or meeting a simple need. A thoughtful act of love from brothers and sisters in Christ can be a treasured gift to a missionary during the holiday season.

One of the best ways to love our missionaries is by giving to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. This offering is unique from other mission offerings in that 100% of gifts provide for missionaries all over the world. It is a valuable part of Southern Baptists’ 175-year history of reaching the nations with the Gospel and vital to reaching the vision of a multitude from every language, people, tribe, and nation knowing and worshiping our Lord Jesus Christ (Revelation 7:9).

Encourage a Missionary

One meaningful way to support missions and involve younger generations is by encouraging them to send a Christmas card or thank-you note to a current or retired missionary. This simple act helps teach the legacy of Southern Baptist missions while reminding missionaries that their faithful service is valued and remembered.

A heartfelt note of encouragement can make a lasting impact. God may use your words to strengthen and encourage a missionary during a challenging season.

Make it Personal.
Share why their ministry matters to you and how their work is making a difference for God’s Kingdom.

Offer Encouragement.
Let them know how you are praying for them and ask God to continue using them to share the Gospel and disciple others.

Share Your Faith Story.
Briefly tell how God worked in your life through the witness of others. Remind them that God is using them to impact lives and be part of many redemption stories.

Express Gratitude.
Thank them for their faithfulness, sacrifice, and service to the Lord. Let them know their work is appreciated and that they are not forgotten.

Commit to Prayer.
Assure them that you will continue praying for their spiritual strength, protection, and effectiveness in ministry.
