Our world deeply needs to hear God’s message of hope and salvation through Jesus. Every day, our missionaries are reaching the lost in every corner of the world. Won’t you take a minute to pray, thank, and encourage them as they serve faithfully so that all may hear?

Prayer Points

For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
Romans 10:13

Pray that God will work mightily through our missionaries to impact lostness and see lives changed by the Gospel.

The Lord will watch over your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore.
Psalm 121:8

Pray for the health and safety of our missionaries serving in hard places, reminding them that they are not alone.

And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in Glory in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:19

Pray that churches will give generously to the mission effort this Christmas season.

In Your Community

Remember the missionaries sent out from your church

Work with your Sunday School class, small group, or church to find a way to bless your current or retired missionaries this Christmas. It could mean ministering to family members who are stateside such as a college student or an aging parent.  The love of a brother or sister in Christ is a wonderful gift to a missionary during the holiday season.

In the SBCV

One of the best ways to love our missionaries is by giving to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. This offering is unique from other mission offerings in that 100% of gifts provide for missionaries all over the world. It is a valuable part of Southern Baptists’ 175-year history of reaching the nations with the Gospel and vital to reaching the vision of a multitude from every language, people, tribe, and nation knowing and worshiping our Lord Jesus Christ (Revelation 7:9).

Encourage a Missionary

A great way to involve younger generations is to teach and remind them of the legacy of Southern Baptist missions. One way to do that is to send a note of thanks to a current or retired missionary. Your word of encouragement might be what God uses to keep them going when times are difficult.

Cards can be sent to:

SBC of Virginia—Missionary Encouragement
4956 Dominion Boulevard
Glen Allen, VA 23060

Notes that Encourage Your Missionaries:
  • Make it personal. Tell them why they are important to you and to the work of the Lord.
  • Make it encouraging. Tell them how you are specifically praying for them to be used by God.
  • Share your own story of how you were saved and the people God used. And remind them that God is using them to reach those around them and be a part of their redemption story.
  • Tell them you are proud of them and thankful for their service to the Lord.
