Today, we’re going to Southeast Asia in our prayer time, so we can pray for one of our missionaries serving there. Naya Wilder works with Deaf people in one of the Southeast Asian nations. She serves in a city, where three out of every four Deaf people in the country live. Note that there are few believers among the hearing people of this country. Among the Deaf, there are just a handful.
Naya and other workers have been trying to establish a community center for Deaf people. Deaf people often cannot communicate with their hearing family and have few opportunities to be around other Deaf people like them. Of course, a Christian community center would be staffed by Christians who can communicate in sign language — and tell Bible stories, which most Deaf people will follow.
So far just a few events for Deaf people have been held — a Christmas party and the like. The response has been good. Our church helps support Naya through our Cooperative Program giving. Let’s pray now for her. Let’s ask the Lord to help that community center be established so that thousands of Deaf people will meet Christ and come to know Him.
