Appalachian Trail Hiker Ministry
Each year in May, the tiny town of Damascus grows to be one of the most populated towns in the Commonwealth! Why? Because during Trail Days, many hikers travelling the Appalachian Trail will be blessed and be a blessing. If you want to get in on this opportunity for blessing, May 13-17, 2009, click here. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Families on Mission is an exciting opportunity to model Evangelism and Missions to our children as young as 5 years old. We have a ministry site right here in Virginia! Click Here for more information.
Dakotas Partnership
Beginning in January of this year, the SBCV is intentionally engaged in a new partnership that will facilitate our churches taking the Gospel to our Samaria by way of a new state-to-state partnership with the Dakota Baptist Convention.
In August of 2008, five representatives from SBCV churches and missionary personnel traveled to assess the needs of the harvest in parts of both North and South Dakota. The focus of that trip was in the eastern-most portions of each state along the 1-29 corridor between Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Fargo, North Dakota. A large percentage of the population of each state resides along this corridor, which will be the focus of much of our four-year partnership. On the south end of the corridor, Sioux Falls is home to 200,000 people, among which are just six Southern Baptist Churches. In the northern end, Fargo is home to 175,000 people among whom are three Southern Baptist churches and one brand-new church plant. Scattered along the 400 miles in between, there are many smaller towns, some in which there is no Southern Baptist or evangelical church at all. The fields are truly ripe and ready for harvest!Dakotas Partnership? To learn more Click Here!
During the month of January, Baptist Men engaged in a 31-Day Simultaneous Prayer Plan for Awakening. You can access the prayer plan online at this link. You can also learn more about the plan in a Baptist Press story here.
The online resource BMEN Online launced in January 2009. Below is the "Getting Started" copy from this weekly missions e-newsletter.
Thanks for joining us in the next chapter of missions learning for Baptist Men. You are part of history in the making. No, online delivery is nothing new for Baptist Men. As far back as 1996 mission e-newsletters were produced for BMEN. Listserves and online resources have been around for almost a decade. But what is historic is the frequency of BMEN Online. For the first time in Southern Baptist history, a men's mission resource is being delivered weekly. Thank you for helping us make history.
