Let’s pray today for two our our missionaries in Colorado: Justin and Lacy McKay. Their missions calling sort of came on their honeymoon! When they honeymooned in Denver, Colorado, they looked around and asked, “Where are all the churches?”
The sad answer: There were very few. Later, they did research and their first impression was correct: Denver is a gospel desert, desperately needing more churches.
Justin and Lacy went back home to Alabama, but that need for more churches stayed with them. Later, they moved to the Denver area and planted The Local Church in the historic district of Arvada, which borders Denver. The district has people from all walks of life, including many young families — babies are everywhere!
The new church meets in a school on Independence Street as Justin and Lacy share the gospel with people and disciple new believers. They have developed a good core of leaders. They’re trying to build relationships throughout the community, including with the school where they meet.
Our church is helping support the McKays through our Cooperative Program giving. Let’s pray that new church will see massive success as they pour the living water of Christ into the gospel desert around them.
