We’re going to South Africa in our prayer time today. That’s where our missionaries, Luke and Leslie Montgomery, moved in 2023 with their two-year-old son.
Our church is supporting these new missionaries with our Cooperative Program giving.
Their assignment: Discipling university students. Getting to Africa took Luke and Leslie longer than a plane flight.
Leslie says God called her at age 12 to serve as a missionary in Africa. She couldn’t go then, and as time passed, she got away from God and His calling on her life.
But later she made five short-term mission trips to Africa. And again, she heard God calling her.
She completed her education and became a teacher. Along the way, she and Luke got married, bought a house and got on with life.
Luke also knew God was calling him to be a missionary, but he resisted, rejecting even a short-term mission trip. When he said yes to missions, Leslie was ready to go with him.
They quit their jobs, sold their house, and prepared to go.
Let’s thank God for Luke and Leslie and their obedience! Let’s pray for their ministry with students.
