Today in our prayer time, let’s pray for South Asia. That’s where one of our missionaries, whom we’ll call Sidney, serves and we want to pray for her today. Sidney specializes in sharing the Gospel with Asian women in villages, but COVID-19 stopped her travel for a time. When she could get back to her village, she invited women and children to meet for two things: a lesson in healthy living and a story from the Bible.
It was the hot season. They met on hard-packed dirt one time. Another time they met on a rooftop. That time more than 350 people gathered and Sidney prayed hard the roof would hold. Later, more lockdown rules were put in place, and, again, her travel to the village was stopped. She soon learned that two women, who had become Christians, were continuing the meetings. They read the Bible aloud, prayed, and sang in multiple small groups.
Knowing such new believers overcame their fears and were leading such sessions left Sidney in happy tears. That’s just what every missionary wants to see happen in the lives of believers. Our church helps support Sidney in her life-changing ministry — through the Cooperative Program. Let’s pray that many more followers of Christ will be created in that village and that God will raise up more leaders to carry His Word to other villages as well.
